Google Cloud runs Compute Engine VMs in Mumbai and Delhi at the same price. An e2-small (2 GiB) costs $14.69 a month, about ₹1,646 with GST, and an e2-medium (4 GiB) $29.38. The disk, a public IPv4 address ($0.005 an hour) and outbound data are billed on top. New users get $300 credit for 90 days, but the always-free e2-micro only runs in three US regions.
Google Cloud prices in rupees
E2 on-demand prices from Google’s general-purpose VM pricing page, 28 Oct 2026, monthly view (730 hours).
| Machine type | vCPU | Memory | Mumbai or Delhi | With GST | Iowa (us-central1) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| e2-micro | 2 (shared core) | 1 GiB | $7.34/mo | ₹823 | $6.11/mo |
| e2-small | 2 (shared core) | 2 GiB | $14.69/mo | ₹1,646 | $12.23/mo |
| e2-medium | 2 (shared core) | 4 GiB | $29.38/mo | ₹3,292 | $24.46/mo |
| e2-standard-2 | 2 | 8 GiB | $58.75/mo | ₹6,584 | $48.92/mo |
Not included in the VM price: the boot disk, outbound data, and a public IPv4 address at $0.005 an hour on a standard VM (about $3.65, or ₹409 with GST, a month). Google lists 1-year committed use discounts of up to 37% and 3-year discounts of up to 55% on most machine types.
Free tier and credits: the fine print
Free trial: new customers get a $300 welcome credit to spend over 90 days, and Google says you are not billed during the trial.
Always-free tier: one non-preemptible e2-micro VM a month, but only in Oregon (us-west1), Iowa (us-central1) or South Carolina (us-east1), with 30 GB-months of standard persistent disk and 1 GB of outbound data from North America. So the free VM is not in India, and its 1 GiB of memory is tight for WordPress with plugins.
| What | Free? | India note |
|---|---|---|
| $300 credit, 90 days | Yes, new customers | Usable in Mumbai and Delhi |
| e2-micro VM | Yes, every month | US regions only |
| Public IPv4 on a standard VM | No, $0.005 an hour | Applies in every region |
| Boot disk and backups | 30 GB standard disk free in US regions | Paid in India |
What is good and what to watch
Good
- Two Indian regions, Mumbai and Delhi, at the same E2 price
- $300 credit for 90 days to test
- Always-free e2-micro for small experiments (US only)
- Committed use discounts for steady servers
- Google’s network and a mature console
Watch out for
- The free VM is US-only
- Disk, public IP and egress billed separately
- Self-managed: you run the web server and security
- Prices listed in US dollars, plus 18% GST
- Complex console for a first WordPress site
India regions and speed
Create the VM in asia-south1 (Mumbai) or asia-south2 (Delhi); on 28 Oct 2026 Google showed identical E2 prices for both. Pick Mumbai for western and southern India and Delhi for the north, or put Cloudflare in front so cached pages load from a city near the visitor either way. Avoid the free US e2-micro for an Indian audience: every uncached page would cross the ocean.
Regions and prices read on Google’s VM pricing page with the region switched to Mumbai and Delhi, 28 Oct 2026. We have not run a WordPress site on it for this page, so there is no star score.

Create a VM in Mumbai or Delhi
In Compute Engine create an instance in asia-south1 or asia-south2. For WordPress choose e2-small or e2-medium and allow HTTP and HTTPS traffic.
- 3
Install WordPress and reserve the IP
Install a web server, PHP and MySQL (or a ready image), then promote the external IP to static and point your domain at it.
- 4
Set a budget alert
In Billing, add a budget with email alerts so disk, IP and egress charges do not surprise you after the credit ends.

Google Cloud review: FAQ
Is Google Cloud free for WordPress?
For 90 days, within the $300 trial credit. After that, the always-free e2-micro only runs in three US regions and has 1 GiB of memory, which is tight for WordPress and slow for Indian visitors.
How much does a Google Cloud VM cost in India?
In Mumbai or Delhi, an e2-small is $14.69 a month (about ₹1,646 with GST) and an e2-medium $29.38, before disk, public IP and outbound data.
Does Google Cloud have data centres in India?
Yes, two regions: Mumbai (asia-south1) and Delhi (asia-south2). E2 prices were the same in both on 28 Oct 2026.
Can I get the free e2-micro in Mumbai?
No. Google’s free tier e2-micro is limited to us-west1, us-central1 and us-east1.
Does Google Cloud charge for the IP address?
Yes. A public IPv4 address on a standard VM costs $0.005 an hour, about $3.65 a month.
Google Cloud or shared hosting for a new blog?
Shared or managed hosting. Google Cloud makes sense when you can run a Linux server yourself or need its other services.
