Why does web hosting cost more when it renews?
Hosts use low intro prices to win new customers, then bill the regular price from your second term. Black Friday prices are the deepest intro prices of the year, so the gap at renewal is usually the biggest too.
Can I renew at the Black Friday price?
Usually not. Renewals are billed at the regular rate. The way to keep the low price longer is to buy a longer first term during the sale.
Is GST charged on hosting renewals in India?
Yes. 18% GST normally applies to every hosting invoice from an Indian billing account, including renewals. Add your GSTIN to your account if you need business invoices.
Is it cheaper to switch hosts every year?
Sometimes, but moving costs time and can cause downtime or SEO issues if done badly. For most sites, buying a longer term at Black Friday is simpler and often cheaper than switching every year.
Which hosts avoid big renewal jumps?
Monthly pay-as-you-go cloud hosts such as Cloudways bill at their normal rate once promo months end, so there is no multi-year intro price to lose. Their monthly price is higher than shared hosting, though.
